Each took on a character from DC’s Elseworlds variants of Joaquin Phoenix’s The Joker and Robbert Pattinson’s The Batman, bringing their pair to life in their signature style. Let’s look at how each artist created their masterpiece without further ado.
Because the name mentions The Joker first, let’s start with that. Starting with the outsole, we have a deep, almost blood-red rubber that perfectly matches the inner lining around the collar. From there, we have a white midsole with added darker detailing to create the illusion of comic-book-like shadows.

The sneaker’s base is deep green, which matches the diamonds of The Joker’s face paint and his bright green shirt. It also has a comic book-esque paint job to make it seem like the pair has stepped straight out of the pages.

The panelling around the upper is a deep pinkish-red; hard to tell which it is between the two because of the shading, but either is applicable, matching both the rest of The Joker’s face paint as well as his strapping red suit that he can be seen dancing down the steps in his movie.
The Nike Swoosh is a mustard yellow that matches The Joker’s waistcoat, while the toe box’s sickly green matches The Joker’s chalked hair. Each element is thoughtfully added to bring the character to life in the artwork.

As for The Batman, the level of detail is just as striking, and seeing the two sneakers side by side helps you see how each artist has brought their character to life using their unique talents. The Batman sneaker starts with a black outsole, complemented by a red midsole that matches a few of the other accent elements throughout the sneakers, including the ends of the grey laces, the border around the Nike Swoosh, the inner lining of the sneakers, the trim of the tongue, and the movie logo on the tongue.

In this pair, we also see some exciting elements of shading used, but this time it’s used to represent the high-tech gadgets and hard edges of Batman’s suit. The whole upper is painted with shades of grey, working their way from a lighter shade on the toe box to a darker shade on the mudguard and following that trend throughout the sneakers.
The toe box displays a grey silhouette of a city skyline, which we can only assume is Gotham City, the city that The Bat is the protector of. Throughout the sneakers, black and grey interchange adds intrigue, like creating the illusion of shape on the Nike Swoosh and the illusion of depth on the mudguard. We also can’t forget the little bat symbol near the lateral heel.
Each artist has done a spectacular job bringing their respective characters to life. While you can easily see what makes each artist’s work unique, they have made a cohesive duo of sneakers, fitting for the Caped Crusader and his arch-nemesis.
