There’s no doubt that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be a huge hit for Sony when it releases in theatres next month, June 2023. Like with the first release, Jordan Brand has partnered with the film’s creators and Marvel to produce an official sneaker alongside the animated feature film. It looks like Miles Morales’ favourite kicks, the Air Jordan 1, are getting a special make-over for his journey into the multiverse. Introducing the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse x Air Jordan 1 sneaker — for which we now have official images.

Taking inspiration from the new movie, the first Michael Jordan sneaker and the multiverse itself, the design of the new basketball shoe has evolved from its predecessor, which featured a Kirby Dot pattern over the popular “Chicago” colourway. While it looks remarkably familiar and similar to the first release, the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse x Air Jordan 1 attempts to incorporate the interdimensional glitchy comic book look we first saw in Into the Spider-Verse.
As such, the out-of-this-world sneaker features panelling that transitions from leather to suede and back, distressed and given a patina-like treatment. Building upon its predecessor, the Swoosh displays a delicate iridescent gleam. In contrast, the eyestays and ankle flaps emanate a visual style (a graphic aesthetic) that seems to have been ripped straight out of the pages of a comic book.
Basically, this is the sneaker you need for your voyage into the multiverse. But above all, if you’re a Spider-Man fan, this is actually a true work of art. It’s a sneaker sneakerheads might opt to display rather than wear.
