The Air Jordan 2 silhouette is currently experiencing an amazing comeback and 2022 is giving us some amazing releases. The first half of the year showed Nike’s collaborative versatility, working to create a low-top version that was spearheaded by the late Virgil Abloh. The J Balvin, Union and, Maison Chateau Rouge and A Ma Maniére collabs have all shown that the Jordan 2 is ready to be in tune with sneakerheads once more. Now, the Two 18 x Jordan 2 Low sneaker continues the love for the underrated Jordan 2s with its silhouette.

Detroit Sneaker Boutique Two 18 only launched in February, but Nike’s Jordan Brand pulled off this surprise collab as a shout-out to the Motor City. The possibility of this collab is likely thanks to Two 18’s sister store, Burn Rubber, which already has its own Air Jordan 2 Low collaboration with Nike.

While people outside of Detroit will love the Two 18 x Jordan 2 Low, there’s something about the Easter eggs and subtle calls to the city that will be special in the hearts of Detroit fans. There’s even a map of the city on the insoles. This map even mentions specific cities like Pontiac, Flint, Inkster, Oak Park and Detroit. Perhaps it’s a metaphorical way to represent being at the top. Regardless, it gives a lot of personality to the sneakers.

There’s also an interesting feature of the insole that alludes to the Flint Water Crisis. The soles are able to go from brown to clear, a likely insert for the Flint Water Crisis in Michigan.

The colours here are also pretty interesting. The Two 18 x Jordan 2 Low sneaker is mainly stylized with Earth tones. Dark and light brown materials can be found in a complementary look that is soft to the touch, especially thanks to the sneaker’s premium suede in the upper areas.

One thing that will instantly resonate with passionate sneakerheads is the combination of materials on this pair. You can feel textures such as its smooth velvet surface on the light brown areas. Meanwhile, some of the dark brown areas feature a coarser touch to the sneaker. Overall, everything feels like it’s in the right place and the textures are carefully designed to keep the sneakers in good shape.

At the heel, there’s a TPU piece and a leather lining and a dyed area with red and blue highlights. This is likely a subtle homage to the iconic Detroit Pistons basketball team. The Two 18 x Jordan 2 Low has some other subtle embellishments and details for keen-eyed fans. At the debossed, leather-constructed hangtag, the metal engraved lace tips and even along the lace strings, you can see some text written. “19-22 512” and “14-19 306” are the numbers present. There are some others on the back of the left sneaker’s front tongue. Above that text reads “THROUGH IT ALL”.

It’s a marvel how much passion went into these Jordan 2s and there’s no doubt that many sneakerheads will enjoy the storytelling it presents.
