As a pioneer of creative expression, Vans has always collaborated with artists and personalities who live and breathe their art. Now, the popular brand is taking it to the next level with its latest collaboration, the Vans MoMA, which features influence from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) – one of the world’s foremost museums devoted to modern and contemporary art.
Come 30 September 2020, your body might be feeling a little classier as it showcases Vans Classic style mixed with artwork inspired by the likes of Salvador Dalí, Wassily Kandinsky, Claude Monet, Edvard Munch, Jackson Pollock and Lyubov Popova. The first release arrives at the end of September, with another to follow in November.
Speaking about this exciting partnership, Associate Director of Licensing and Partnerships at MoMA, Robin Sayetta, said:
“MoMA is excited to finally reveal the Vans collaboration as they, too, have a rich legacy of supporting artistic expression. We pursue a limited number of product collaborations and our goal is always to engage a broader audience with modern art. We are thrilled to reach art lovers around the world through Vans’ global network.”
This first of the two launches features the iconic works of Salvador Dalí, Wassily Kandinsky and Claude Monet. For the sneakerheads, you’ll want to get your hands on Monet’s impressionist-inspired “Water Lilies” (1914-1226) collab that rests atop the Vans Authentic. I mean, how incredible do they look?
The first wave of the release includes a colourful interpretation of Vans’ iconic checkerboard that takes direct inspiration from the MoMA’s expanded and reimagined identity. It spans across the latest ComfyCush Old Skoll and Era silhouettes, and it’s complemented by Vans and MoMA branded apparel and accessories.
