When the Tron franchise first came to the big screen in 1982, no one was prepared for the impact the book adaptation would have on the sci-fi world in the decades to come. Fast forward just under thirty years, and Tron: Legacy swept Hollywood again, reviving the love that fans worldwide had been missing for the last few decades. A decade has passed, and fans are still hoping for yet another production in the beautiful electronic world of Tron, but while we wait, here is a stunning pair of custom concept Nike Air Jordan 4 “Tron” sneakers to hold us over.
Starting from the bottom, these stunning Air Jordan 4 “Tron” sneakers have a black outsole that makes way to a neon blue midsole. Both the outsole and the midsole are accented by bright orange rubber, with the outsole’s accent coming in the form of a strip of rubber running along the perimeter of the sneakers. In contrast, the accent for the midsole comes in the form of a transparent window that lets you see into the bright orange Air unit hidden within the heel.
The orange and electric blue rubber make a further appearance on the sneakers. The former makes up the heel tab on the spine of the sneakers, and the latter makes up the ends of the support wings after the black support anchors.
The upper of the Air Jordan 4 “Tron” sneakers is a stunning combination of plain and decorative black nubuck. Plain nubuck makes up most of the overlays, such as most of the forefoot and the lace stays. In contrast, the decorative sections comprise the mudguard and the area by the ankle. The decorative pieces are very similar, depicting bright blue wires and circuitry. Still, the mudguard area is more circuitry, while the collar area represents the software world of the mainframe.
The grid-like mesh covering the cutouts near the toe and on the sides of the sneaker is black, matching the rest of the upper and the sock liner. In contrast, the mesh beneath it is an electric blue that is more muted than the neon of the rest of the sneakers.
The final details all come in the form of more neon blue, namely for the inner lining of the tongue, the decorative stitching throughout the front half of the sneaker, and the bright blue laces. The sneakers almost look like they are under a black light with how beautifully they shine.
The Jumpman logos on the sneakers’ tongue and spine are a silvery slate grey that perfectly contrasts the luminescent orange of the rubber accents. While we wait in hopeful suspense for the epic Sci-Fi movie to have a sequel, these would be the perfect sneakers to show your support for the franchise.
As mentioned above, these sneakers are merely custom concepts and, unfortunately, aren’t authentic. There is always hope that Nike might collaborate with our favourite franchises, so don’t lose hope. Until then, we can look at these beautiful sneakers using the mainframe how they were intended to be enjoyed.
