For a hot minute, Nike sneakers have been a staple in the golfing world. Gone are the days when golf was considered an activity exclusively for elderly gentlemen; today, it appeals to a much wider audience. It is increasingly becoming a sport for younger people of all genders, and sports apparel companies are taking notice. Nike, in particular, is clearly aware of the younger customer base, making a concerted effort to create some pieces that will appeal to a younger audience. Their latest effort in this regard is the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 Golf “Play To Live.

Nike Air Max 1 Golf “Play To Live”
The Air Max 1 line is no stranger to hitting the green and leading the charge of epic sneakers in the golfing world, delivering some of the boldest colourways to golf apparel. These sneakers are their latest push, and they are definitely bold. The namesake is written inside the Swoosh and chiselled into the heel of one shoe. In contrast, the complementary “Live To Play” is chiselled on the other. The shoe wants to make it very clear what they are about. The writing is also evident on the psychedelic inner sole and on full display on the outsole.
These sneakers’ colourway is neutral and wacky, including colours like white, grey and then psychedelic blue, purple and yellow. The neutral parts are the white mesh that makes up most of the upper, the white sock liner and the white laces, and the grey suede of the rest of the upper and the eyelets.
But let’s be honest; you aren’t here for the white and neutral parts. You’re here for the bold colours. The psychedelic patterning makes up the art-covered mudguard and the inner lining. The patterns are primarily blue and purple, with a touch of yellow pops that match the yellow of the top eyelets and the yellow Nike logo on the tongue label. All the writing on the shoe is a playful 90s aesthetic.
As mentioned, the slogan is also painted across the outsole, combining purple, yellow and white to tie all the lesser-seen colours of the sneakers together beautifully. The midsole also features a clear peekaboo window so you can see through the sole of the sneakers.
