The Witcher is one of the most well-loved and well-known fantasy franchises that has ever graced this earth; with a book series, a game series, and a TV series, what better way to immerse yourself in the world of your favourite gruff hero than with this epic pair of The Witcher Nike Air Jordan 11 sneakers?
The Witcher started as a short story by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski in 1986 for a fantasy magazine. Still, when the story got enough love to warrant 14 more short stories, Sapkowski decided to create his own fantasy realm, starting with the first novel in the saga Blood of Elves in 1994. Sapkowski diligently wrote one book a year until 1999 before taking a break and releasing a prequel novel in 2013.
In 2007, the concept was picked up by CD Projekt Red, who expanded it into a three-part video game series focusing on Geralt of Rivia, just like the books. For those fans who aren’t quite gamers, Netflix then turned the concept into a series for us to enjoy with the handsome Henry Cavill starring as Geral of Rivia, a role that many are convinced he was born to play.
Anyway, enough about all that, because if you are here, it’s probably for these epic-looking sneakers. Genius designer Brandon Krige, here at Fortress of Solitude, designed a pair of epic The Witcher Nike Air Jordan 11 sneakers that combine some elements of all three realms and fandoms that the franchise has created: the books, the video games, and the Netflix adaptations.
Starting from the bottom, we have a blue semi-translucent outsole reminiscent of a stormy ocean, complemented by a stark white midsole that shines through the semi-translucency perfectly.
Above the midsole, the classic patent leather section of the Air Jordan 11 silhouette has stunning swirls of red-like oil and sunset reflecting on water, perfectly bringing in the element of the first official book of the series Blood of Elves.
Above that, we have the rest of the panelling of the upper, displaying a stunning image from what looks like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a well-loved video game from the franchise with some of the best graphics that a game has to offer, despite getting on in years. The image extends from the forefoot area and wraps around the back of the shoe, displaying the stunning image of Geralt making his way into what looks like a hag’s lair in the swamp.
As with most Air Jordan 11 models, the lace unit comprises a series of bands instead of holes that make up the lace stay and eyelets. This works perfectly here, like red and blue banners displaying Geralt’s sword. The laces are plain white but with a 3D cast lace dubrae sporting Geralt’s original medallion from the game, and the hang tag has been customised to show a matching emblem.
The tongue of the sneakers is a soft, stormy blue mesh that sports the symbol from the The Witcher Netflix series. Although we might not love that Liam Hemsworth is taking over the role of Geralt in The Witcher season 4, these sneakers are the perfect way to pay homage to the franchise and pay your respects.
