Vans continues its momentum with its latest collaboration, this time around featuring an exclusive partnership with the Van Gogh Museum. The collaboration features an artfully designed collection utilizing Van Gogh masterpieces across various, iconic Vans Classics and premium apparel silhouette. In addition to the drop, the Van Gogh Museum will dedicate a portion of their profits from the project to the preservation of Vincent van Gogh’s legacy and collection of art – keeping it accessible for future generations.
Arguably one of the most famous and influential post-impressionist painter, Vincent van Gogh has some of the most iconic and easily recognisable works of art. His works are noted for evoking beauty, emotion and colour bringing his personal expression to life through his art. There are over 2,100 pieces of artwork created from his decade-long career, from which the Vans team has worked closely with the Van Gogh Museum team to select four main bodies of work. The selected artwork speaks to the creative ethos of Vans’ design as well as personal moments from the artist familial history. The four chosen works, Skull, Almond Blossom, Sunflowers and Van Gogh’s self-portrait, are celebrated through an extensive Vans collection, showcasing some of Van Gogh’s most revered artwork in a new and creative way. The collection also features a silhouette designed by the Vans team, drawing inspiration from some of the 700 letters sent from Vincent to his brother Theo.
The collection of art has been brought to life with prints on customised materials. The footwear collection features the Classic slip-on, Old Skool, and Authentic silhouettes. The apparel and accessories featured include the long sleeve tee, hoodie, Bomber, hat, oversized Tee and backpack. Each model from the footwear collection is finished with custom footbed art that mimics Van Gogh’s memorable brush strokes with the Van Gogh Museum and Vans logo lock-up. Each of the pieces from the collection will also include a special hangtag highlighting historical facts behind each piece of Vincent Van Gogh’s art.
The all-new Vans x Van Gogh Museum Collection is set to drop this Friday, 3 August 2018, and will be available at Vans retail stores and selected wholesale accounts. The collection will also be available on the Van Gogh Museum website and in the museum shop in Amsterdam.
