There’s never a boring day at Vans. This time, the iconic and authentic brand in skateboarding has teamed up with Boys of Summer – renowned for its nostalgic videos that are all about skating – for a brand-new collection Vans x Boys of Summer, featuring three new colourways across the Classic Skate Old Skool, Rowan Pro, and Varix silhouettes.
If you didn’t know about the Boys of Summer, the crew became synonymous for featuring skating legends, upcoming talent and influencers, as they travelled around and skated together. The Vans x Boys of Summer collection shares this same type of ethos with “shared pro models” that display the one skater’s name on the left shoe and the other on the right. The names are visible on the uppers and on the outsoles through crystal translucent rubber. Plus, all three shoes feature a quote that’s meaningful to the duo on the interior tongue label. Additionally, the collection doesn’t forget about Alexis Ross’ stylings, giving props to the iconic pop culture film excerpts found in Boys of Summer’s videos.
Out of nowhere, there’s also a throwback to ‘90s skate shoe aesthetics in the form of the Varix in a Manute/Steve Lee colorway. The black/navy uppers are highlighted by reflective pops and graphic hits, navy pig suede overlays, and paired with a white sidewall and crystal rubber outsole. Talk about retro making a comeback, right?
The Vans x Boys of Summer Varix will be available from June 2021 at Baseline and www.vans.co.za.
