Amazon has dropped the first trailer for Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s new movie “Air” -- a film that tells the story of the birth of the Nike Air Jordan sneakers.
It's the story about how Sonny Vaccaro signed and courted rookie Michael Jordan for an exclusive shoe line.
Air stars Matt Damon as Sonny Vaccaro, Ben Affleck as Phil Knight, Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler and Julius Tennon as James Jordan.
Nike revolutionized the sneaker industry and the world of sport with the introduction of the Air Jordan brand.
“This moving story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all time.”
The film marks Ben Affleck’s return to directing following Live by Night and the award-winning Argo.
Air will take us back to the early days of the Swoosh and the risk they took betting on Michael Jordan becoming an NBA star.
Amazon announced that AIR will receive a traditional theatrical release before debuting on Prime Video.
This is the first project from Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity.
It is also the first time that Damon has starred in a film directed by Affleck.
