After 19 years of waiting, Avatar: The Last Airbender is finally returning. After the flop that was the first live-action adaptation in 2010, fans are both apprehensive and excited about the upcoming adaptation, so much so that @dope_don_designs has shown his loyalty by creating a pair of Aang x Nike SB Dunk Low sneakers.
In the story of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang is the last Airbender after his people were wiped out in a tragic war, as well as the next Avatar. Each generation has a skilled elemental bender capable of manipulating all four elements: earth, water, fire and air. His people tend to have shaved heads with blue markings on their bodies and appear a lot like monks.
It should come as no surprise that custom artist Dariyn Enriquez has chosen to replicate the colours and layers of Aang’s Air Bending uniform, including colours like warm yellow, dark oranges, browns, and even the shades of his skin and the markings that make him stand out among the rest. Without further ado, let’s take a detailed look at the elements of these sneakers.
Starting from the bottom, we can see that the outsole matches the inner lining, both of which appear in a warm brown that matches Aang’s shoes. Moving up from there, the midsole is a lovely cream colour that matches the quarter’s pebbled or tumbled leather and the puffy laces, all representing Aang’s skin tone.

The layering of the panelling throughout the sneaker is done in a way that matches the panelling and layering of Aang’s outfit, with the base of the upper being made of a warm yellow pebbled leather and the panelling being a much smoother-looking leather that matches the warm orange shades of the accents of his outfit, such as the cuffs of his sleeves, his belt, and the over cape.
Last but certainly not least, we have the Nike Swoosh. @dope_don_designs always has incredibly thought-out designs that are still wearable; the same can be said for these sneakers. The Swoosh shape has been modified to have the arrow at the tip of the front of the Swoosh. Along with the shape being modified, it is also the signature blue of the Airbenders’ markings.
