These Air Jordan 9 “Galaxy” Sneakers Are Truly Out of This World

House of Heat's 2019 Air Jordan 9 "Galaxy" sneakers are gorgeous and deserve to have their spotlight once again.

We last saw an official Galaxy-themed sneaker from Nike a while ago, and we aren’t the only ones missing them. House of Heat noticed that an All-Star Galaxy-themed sneaker had appeared a while ago, so they took it upon themselves to make one. Let’s look at the Air Jordan 9 “Galaxy” Concept from House of Heat.

The Air Jordan 9 “Galaxy”

The brilliant minds at House of Heat’s Concept Lab thought up this gorgeous concept sneaker. They wanted to see what it would look like if they continued the All-Star Weekend “galaxy”-themed sneakers trend and combined it with the gorgeous Air Jordan 9 silhouette.

This Is What a Louis Vuitton Air Jordan 1 Would Actually Look Like

The concept was designed in 2019, and House of Heat writer Pete Michael shared that the sneakers were primarily inspired by the Alternate Galaxy (Big Bang) Foamposite One, which was seen in 2018, and Russell Westbrook’s Cosmos Air Jordan 30s, which were seen on foot in 2016.

White complements the gorgeous dark purple galaxy motif on the sneakers’ upper. White appears on the outsole, and the upper leather is buttery and smooth.

The Galaxy motif takes up a good chunk of the upper overlays, using shades of purple for a cohesive look. From a deep, almost black purple to a more accurate purple, the shades shift and change to create the gorgeous look of a nebula.

The accents throughout the sneaker have taken on the same variations in the purple shade. The Jumpman logo and the Nike branding on the back of the sneaker take on lighter purple, while lace toggles, the tongue and heel tab, and the inner lining have all taken on the much darker, deep space purple.

The sneakers are undeniably gorgeous, and you will definitely wish that Nike saw this House of Heat concept and turned it into a reality.

What We Like About Them

Who doesn’t love an excellent Galaxy-themed pair of sneakers? Regarding concept sneakers, a Galaxy theme is one of the universal favourites. That also, unfortunately, means that there are so many out there that it can be challenging to wade through the onslaught of mediocre concepts to find the good ones.

This House of Heat Air Jordan 9 “Galaxy” Concept was definitely worth searching for because it is gorgeous. The choice of white rather than black (which most galaxy concepts use as a base for their designs) was brilliant. The white perfectly balances the darkness of the space motif and complements the stars throughout the galaxy design.

The final thing we love about this design is that it is more of an obscure concept. The range of purples throughout the design is reminiscent of Lovecraft’s The Colour Out of Space, incredibly brought to life with Nicholas Cage’s 2019 movie Color Out of Space. We don’t think it’s a coincidence that the movie and the concept sneakers came out in the same year. It might be a nuanced nod, but it is appreciated nonetheless.

Would you wear these Air Jordan 9 “Galaxy” sneakers if they were real?
