Nike Nike Cortez “Light Orewood Brown” Is Hot Right Now

After a pretty lacklustre 50th anniversary in 2022, Nike has been working double time to make up for the lack of beautiful Nike Cortez colourways and has done a fabulous job with this addition to their lifestyle collection, the Nike Cortez “Light Orewood Brown”. A mix of textures, colours and style, these sneakers were made to work with an epic neutral outfit, making them the perfect lifestyle sneaker.

These vintage running shoes have had a complete lifestyle makeover. They replace the usual leather construction with a combination of leather and a breathable texture across most of the upper.

Featuring leather only in select panels at the toe, the lace stays, the heel counter and a lighter Nike Swoosh, the rest of the upper is a stunning woven light orewood brown textile that clears up any doubt about whether these sneakers are meant for the court or for elevated everyday life.

The dark leather of the heel tab complements the dark rubber of the vintage-style wedged sole, which has black surrounding the brown wedge as both the outsole and midsole. Of course, the classic detail of the herringbone traction pattern on the outsole couldn’t be missed on this pair.

Rooting the pair in its heritage and glancing back at the past, the Nike Cortez “Light Orewood Brown” features a vital element that would be sorely missed by sneaker enthusiasts if it hadn’t been included: the exposed foam tongue. Firmly rooted in the 70s aesthetic, the raw edge of the tongue is topped by a supple and plush textile that perfectly matches the wedge seen within the outsole.

Featuring the classic Nike branding on both the perfectly white insole and the contrasting black heel tab (each of which uses the contrasting colour for the branding), the white tongue label takes a different direction, featuring a bright red Nike Swoosh with “Nike” written in cursive across it, once again bringing the look back to the past in a way that feels fresh.
