Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Snake” Slithers With Cool

Nike and Jordan Brand's "Year of the Snake" has slowly emerged through leaked images, but do they meet sneakerheads' expectations?

While Nike and Jordan Brand impressed sneakerheads with their Dragon-themed sneaker releases from 2024’s Chinese New Year offerings, the potential of next year’s releases, such as the Air Jordan 1 Low OG’ Year of the Snake, ‘ seems to be falling short in comparison.

A Closer Look At The Sneaker

The pair starts with a simple combination of Summit White leather on the base and Photon Dust leather across the overlays.

While there are a few nods to next year’s Chinese zodiac animal, the snake, such as the textured snakeskin pattern on the tongue and the ripstop material on the Swoosh that mimics the look of a snake’s shed skin, as well as iridescent wings logos on the heel that reference the light-reflecting scales of some snake species, the design still feels underwhelming.

Even the decision to not include a graphic on the bottom of the translucent rubber outsole is a missed opportunity. Not even the unique iridescent-inspired boxing and black Jumpman hang tags with their snakeskin texture are enough to elevate the average design.
