Nike and Jordan Brand have always prided themselves on celebrating diversity and culture. The brands have worked on colourways in the past that exemplify the beautiful traditions around the world, but hey, there’s always room for improvement, right? Having focused on plenty of colourways that are homage to the Lunar New Year and sneaker culture in general, we rarely see other parts of the world in their depictions. Here at Sneaker Fortress, we decided to create our custom design that is an homage to one of the great festivals of Indian and Hindu culture, Holi, with the Air Jordan 4 “Festival of Colours” custom sneaker concept.
Air Jordan 4 “Festival of Colours”
These beautiful Air Jordan 4 sneakers are inspired by the Festival of Colours, or Holi, in many parts of India. If you haven’t heard of the festival, you have likely seen references to it in gorgeous Bollywood films in scenes of stunning colour being thrown into the air while passers-by rejoice and revel.
In reverence of this beautiful tradition, these sneakers were designed with a colourful palette that looks like clouds of powdered paint and colour being thrown onto these sneakers. With a colour palette that includes the primary colours Red, Yellow and Blue, the upper is complemented by elements of stark white to allow these stunning shades to speak for themselves.
The outsole starts off the Air Jordan 4 “Festival of Colours” sneakers with a base of pure white, housing the clear window into the visible Air unit that the Air Jordan 4 silhouette is known for. From there, the midsole immediately moves into an explosion of primary colours, including all three.

The leather upper of the sneakers seamlessly follows suit, including red, yellow, and blue, which both stand out and blend over each other as they depict an homage to the Holi celebration, with colours scattered over the sneakers and speckles representing the paint.
White quickly returns on the mesh cutouts of the upper, the spine and tongue of the sneakers, and the tongue and inner lining to tie the sneakers together and ground them with the outsole.
The support wings on this pair of sneakers are particularly interesting. Instead of the usual construction that is just TPU, the upper parts of the support wings are metallic red, while the lower part is puffy and constructed of white leather. This contrast really allows the colourway of these sneakers to shine in their own right.
Celebrating Holi
We would be remiss to discuss these beautiful custom Air Jordan 4 “Festival of Colours” sneakers without discussing the history and culture that inspired them. Holi is a Hindu festival of Love and Colour and is “one of the most revered and celebrated festivals of India”, according to holifestival.org, that many parts of the country celebrate.

Known to be a time when communities come together and celebrate this joyous and stunning festival, it is when people forget about any resentment, grudge, or ill will they might have had towards one another to celebrate together. It is marked as a time when good triumphs over bad, a time of rejoicing and revelry and playing with colour with friends and family.
Celebrated for a day and a night, starting on the evening of Purnima, or the Full Moon Day in the month of Falgun, Holi takes place on March 25th, 2024, so remember to show your love for this beautiful culture and celebration.
