“Thunder, thunder, ThunderCats, Ho!” There has been plenty of reason for fans of the ThunderCats to cheer this year! Puma released an epic ThunderCats collection featuring their RS-X T3CH sneakers. Dressed in colourways inspired by the series’ iconic characters, these sneakers were the perfect nostalgic treat. Yet, we still can’t help but wonder, what would these sneakers look like if the beloved heroes had collaborated with Nike SB instead? Well, thanks to @conceptkickz, we won’t need to guess for too long. This talented artist has intercepted all our thoughts and crafted an exceptional concept sneaker – the Nike SB Dunk Low “Lion-O.

This creative concept pays homage to the fearless leader of the ThunderCats, Lion-O. Who can forget the mighty Sword of Omens, which Lion-O wields with great skill and courage? Or what about this legendary character’s signature powder blue fit, which, let’s be honest, only he could pull off? The 80s might be a distant memory, but the “Lord of the ThunderCats” still holds a special place in our hearts. And that’s why we are thrilled to see @jerzy_kicks bring this much-needed collaboration between Nike SB and the ThunderCats to life. Using a blend of imagination and impressive Procreate skills, of course.

The Nike SB Dunk Low “Lion-O” sneaker sports design elements that reflect the leader’s iconic attire and weapon. It’s a shoe that would undoubtedly awaken the ThunderCat spirit in its wearer. The sneaker’s tumbled leather base adopts the subtle orange shade of the Thunderian’s skin, while the collar is adorned with a vibrant orange hue, echoing the hero’s flowing mane.

ThunderCats Lion-O Dunks

As expected, the “Lion-O” colourway wouldn’t be complete without shades of blue. This colour is seen on the overlays, with a lighter blue covering most of the surface area and a darker blue providing a stunning contrast along the edges. The darker blue shade is also present on the heel tab and outsole, contributing a harmonious element to the overall design. These carefully chosen shades of blue pay tribute to Lion-O’s iconic blue armour and matching boots.

Next, we see a brilliant red swoosh proudly exhibited on the side of the sneaker. But the most unique feature of this Nike swoosh isn’t its colour — it’s the silhouette of a cat head at the front end. This cat head is the renowned ThunderCats logo, a powerful symbol within the ThunderCats series.

Another symbol incorporated in the design is a cat eye. This represents the Eye of Thundera, a mythical and potent artefact in the ThunderCats universe. The iconic symbol signifies wisdom, protection, and the ability to see beyond the ordinary. Without it, the ThunderCats would be at a substantial disadvantage in their battles against the forces of evil. Hence, placing this symbol on the sneaker’s tongue seems fitting.

Though I would have liked to see Lion-O’s gold claw shield included in the concept design, this minor detail can be overlooked. Overall, the sneaker design successfully captures Lion-O’s powerful and royal presence. We’re confident fans will appreciate this footwear adaptation of the iconic character.

Unfortunately, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Lion-0” sneakers remain a concept design. However, that doesn’t diminish our desire for these sneakers to become a reality. In fact, we want a complete Thundercats SB Dunk Low pack! Panthro’s, Cheetara’s, Tygras’s – we want them all!

So, what do you think about the Nike SB Dunk Low “Lion-O” sneaker? Also, check out the Di’orr Greenwood Nike SB Dunk High “Rugged Orange” and the Sour Patch Kids x Nike SB Dunk Low sneakers.
