With Jordan Brand set to release the Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” in November 2025, it seems serendipitous that sneaker boutique Index Portland would unearth a rare wear test sample of the colourway this year. Despite appearing somewhat familiar at first glance, the “Alternate Taxi” Air Jordan 12 has plenty of twists that could possibly feel a little jarring for fans of the original “Taxi” colourway.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
Even if most of the significant details on the Air Jordan 12 “Alternate Taxi”—like the white leather uppers, black textured mudguards, black inner lining, and black pull tabs—remain consistent with the classic colourway we know and love, there are a few key variations that instantly catch the eye.
First of all, the heel portion of the midsole is black rather than white, and the eyelets on the “Alternate Taxi” are silver as opposed to gold. But the most obvious difference is that the tongue is all black, which could be the only change I can honestly say I don’t really mind too much— in fact, maybe even like.
Other differences include the use of black laces, a change in the colour of the branding elements, and the removal of the “Taxi” yellow hits that give the colourway its signature name. In other words, this alternate rendition shouldn’t actually be called a “Taxi” colourway at all.
Even though I think the tongue does look intriguing in all black, I’m more than pleased that Jordan Brand is sticking to their regular degular colourway for the upcoming release this holiday season.
Air Jordan 12 “Alternative Taxi” Release Details
If you’re interested in this alternate design, though, you can purchase it in size 13 on the Index website. However, this pair will set you back a staggering $3,500 USD since it is a rare sample.
If the hefty price tag of the “Alternate Taxi” doesn’t fit your budget, don’t worry. There are plenty of official releases that won’t break the bank. Keep an eye out for the Air Jordan 3 ‘Seoul 2.0,’ the Air Jordan 11 Low ‘Bred,’ and perhaps even the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 ‘Chicago’ too. And remember to keep checking Sneaker Fortress for more news and sneaker releases.
