Nike is getting ready for a second take on their “Bred” Air Force 1 Low theme. Late last year (2024), the Swoosh Label dropped a similar black and red AF1 style, but this year’s edition differs in a few ways.
Sneakerheads can expect dark red contrast stitching across the upper and sole, as well as a blacked-out sole unit (with no red on the outsole this time). The tumbled leather upper is also flush with black (including the heel tab), with the exception of a dark red Swoosh on either side of the shoe.

So, while there are definitely plenty of similarities, there is enough variation to set this new edition apart from its predecessor. Although there are parallels, the new version differs from the previous one. In fact, the slight changes in colour and design details have earned the latest design a comparison to Batman of the Future’s (Terry McGinnis) batsuit on social media.
One Instagram user posts, “Straight out the Batcave. These feel villain-proof,” while another adds, “The Terry McGinnis AF1s,” followed by three fire emojis.

But, as pleased as some fans are about the parallels, others just don’t see it. “Uhhhh what do they have to do with Batman Beyond??? Just because it’s black and red????????” one user wrote, followed by a comment that reads, “Basic as red n black shoe. No bat logo or red sole.”
Of course, these are not, and were never meant to be, an official Batman Beyond collaboration. Just your standard black AF1 with some red embellishments. However, we could see how the design would appeal to fans of the animated series. The colour scheme is reminiscent of the batsuit that Terry wears, especially with the red contrast stitching running throughout.

With a lack of Batman Beyond content over the years (yet a large number of fans of the stories), it’s understandable that fans would be excited to see even the slightest nod to the beloved franchise in footwear.
If you’re picking up the same vibe, look out for the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Bred” (2025) this fall. That said, these are just as good as a simple black and red sneaker option if that’s all you’re really looking for. Expect a price tag of $110 USD via the Nike website and at select stores.
