Sneaker boutique Index Portland has a reputation for showcasing some rare gems in the sneaker world. Not long ago, the boutique posted an unreleased “Alternate Taxi” Air Jordan 12 on their website, allowing sneakerheads a chance to own a fresh twist on a classic colourway. Following this unexpected discovery, the company has revealed a rare Nike Air Foamposite One “New York Yankees” sample that is unlike any colourway of the Eric Agar-designed silhouette we’ve seen.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
This 2019 sample pair has a unique look for a Foamposite One colourway. While we’re used to seeing the model’s outer shell dressed in plain colours, metallic finishes, and, yes, even graphic prints, this pair has a pinstripe design inspired by the New York Yankees’ distinctive uniforms. But instead of a dominant white design, the pair opts for a navy blue base with white pinstripes, creating a novel twist. The style is allegedly inspired by Penny Hardaway drawing pinstripes on his sneakers to comply with the NBA’s rigid uniform standards in the late ’90s, but this connection has not been confirmed in any way.
Where To Grab The Nike Air Foamposite One “New York Yankees” Sample
The “New York Yankees” sample is available on the Index website in size 9 for those who are interested. However, this pair will set you back an incredible $3,500 USD because it is, after all, a rare design.
While the Nike Air Foamposite One “New York Yankees” may be a special find, there are other Nike designs that might be more accessible for the masses, including the brand’s new ReactX Rejuven8 clog and the Air Max Uptempo 95 “Chicago”.Keep an eye out for these, and don’t forget to follow us at Sneaker Fortress for more exciting sneaker drops and news.
