The Shoe Surgeon has made a stunning pair of custom Off-White Air Jordan 1s for the Boston Celtics’ basketball coach, Joseph “Joe” Mazzulla. The sneakers, nicknamed the Air Jordan “Mazzulla 1’s”, have a Spider-Man theme and are inspired by Across The Spider-Verse.
Off-White Air Jordan 1 Low “Mazzulla 1’s”
The red outsole of the sneakers has been borrowed from the official Air Jordan 1 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse sneakers that were released in celebration of the movie release. This couldn’t have been a better choice, as Nike’s glow-in-the-dark quality is the best we have ever seen.
The red outsole is complemented by the white midsole that, of course, has an aged look, as is customary from many of The Surgeon’s sneakers. The writing on the lateral side of the outsole reads “Earth 401” on the right shoe and “I’m Not Proud” on the left.
As you know, the Spider-Verse unlocked the timelines of many Spider-people across the multiverse, allowing us to meet these different versions of Spider-Man. That being said, while there are plenty of interesting Spider-Men from different versions of Earth. Earth-401 isn’t one of them. It’s possible that The Surgeon was referring to Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 #401, released in 1995, in which Peter Parker has a surprisingly Miles Morales-like black and red suit.

“I’m Not Proud” is a cute little nod to the cakes from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse that Miles accidentally ruined in delivering them to his father’s promotion party, literally juggling his personal life with his duties as Spider-Man.
The handcrafted upper of these Air Jordan 1 Low Mazzulla sneakers is gorgeous, featuring plenty of black textiles like premium leather and “Luxe Exotics” that include a dragon-scale-like upper and a beautiful mesh webbing over the mudguard. The back has been embroidered with stunning webs, Spider-Man emblems, and “21”.
The tongue labels of the sneakers have been replaced with painted leather, the right displaying Miles’ masked eyes, and the left displaying his “Spidey-senses” tingling. The last customised element of this pair is the custom packaging, which includes a black briefcase with the Spider-Man logo graffitied on the side with a nametag reading “Hello, my name is JOE”, the Joe being written in bubbly graffiti letters.

West Virginia alumni Joe Mazzulla is the latest lucky customer to get a beautiful pair of custom Spider-Man Air Jordan 1 Low sneakers from one of the best artists in the business.
