We all loved Jordan Brand’s collaboration with A Ma Maniére on the Jordan 12s. The “White and Burgundy Crush” pair were particularly striking with their crisp white leather and splashes of supple burgundy suede. When you look at these stunning sneakers, you can’t help but conjure up images of royalty. So, we here at Fortress wanted to take that regal inspiration even further by pairing the rich and elegant aesthetic of the luxurious Jordan 12s with a king in the world of music. That’s right, the undeniably talented artist known as Prince is getting his very own A Ma Maniére x Jordan 12 “Purple Rain” sneaker concept.

Thanks to our talented creative, Brandon Krige, we get a chance to see what an A Ma Maniére x Jordan 12 sneaker inspired by “The Purple One” would look like. Naturally, the sneaker would need to take on the bold “Love Symbol #2” colour that Pantone created to honour Prince. Thus, this A Ma Maniére x Jordan 12 “Purple Rain” concept features the same striking purple hue that has been associated with the legendary musician and his music.

The A Ma Maniére x Jordan 12 Purple Rain Celebrates Prince

If there is one colour that perfectly captures the essence of Prince and his iconic album “Purple Rain,” it is undoubtedly, well, purple. Over the years, this vibrant hue has become synonymous with his persona and musical legacy. Although the music legend flirted with various colours throughout his career, purple always remained a prominent and symbolic choice for him. That is why anyone creating a “Purple Rain” colourway would be remiss not to include this royal colour as a prominent feature.

The A Ma Maniére x Jordan 12 “Purple Rain” features a predominantly white tumbled leather upper, the perfect base for the purple accents to truly shine. The dark “Love Symbol #2” shade is then displayed on the supple suede toe caps, while the sneaker’s sole takes on a violet hue. The wave of metallic accents touching down along the eyelets, tongue branding, and mid-foot shank are highlighted in warm gold. However, the pinnacle of the design is undoubtedly the inclusion of the stunningly painted portrait of Prince himself on the sneaker’s back end. The portrait is a side profile of the late legend, created in various shades of his favourite purple colour. This not only adds a personal touch to the sneaker but also pays homage to His Purple Highness’s iconic style and reiterates his love for the vibrant hue.
