These Toy Story x Air Jordan 6 “Woody” Are For Fans

There's a snake in my ...Toy Story x Air Jordan 6 "Woody" sneaker?

Toy Story’s Woody (voiced by the legendary Tom Hanks) has seen some serious shoe action over the years. We have seen his classic cowboy style take over many sought-after sneaker models – from the classic Vans Old Skool to the Reebok InstaPump Fury, with even a 2024 collaboration with Crocs under his belt.  However, one sneaker silhouette I did not expect to wear the Woody look so well is the Air Jordan 6. Thankfully, custom sneaker artist Johnny Skinz proves that the iconic 1991 silhouette can indeed pull off the cowboy aesthetic with the Toy Story x Air Jordan 6 “Woody” design.

A Closer Look at the Sneaker Design

When we talk about Toy Story sneakers, the spotlight typically shines on both Buzz Lightyear and Woody. However, in this case, the AJ 6 is flying solo.

Of course, it’s a solo act that’s vibrant with patterns and colours that are synonymous with the much-loved cowboy toy from Toy Story, Woody.

But there’s no need for explicit references here; the design unmistakably celebrates the animated character through all its remarkable details. You can spot the yellow and red plaid patterns inspired by Woody’s shirt on the underlays. Add the overlays with its cowhide pattern, a clear homage to Woody’s cowboy vest, and you can vividly depict everyone’s favourite toy cowboy.

Further tying the design to Woody are the dark denim materials on the heel, echoing his jeans, and the brown leather trimmings on the tongue, capturing his belt and hat. And surely, one cannot miss the red lace toggle, reminiscent of the heroic toy cowboy’s bandana scarf.

Adding the final touches to this ensemble are the red, brown, and black re-painted midsoles and the translucent outsoles – a spot-on match to Woody’s ‘skin’ tone (or his plastic tone?). And, of course, every Toy Story fan’s favourite touch: ‘ANDY’ inscribed on the shoe soles.

Looking at these kicks makes it impossible not to feel a twinge of disappointment that a Toy Story x Nike partnership isn’t in the pipeline. However, the chance to get your hands on a custom pair of Toy Story-themed sneakers is equally exciting.

AJ6 "Woody"

For us, there’s something special about seeing the stunning and versatile AJ6 model revitalised in a unique and playful style – particularly since it doesn’t have as many releases as other Air Jordan models. This custom Toy Story footwear hit just the right note for us. Although I do believe the hand-painted Woody graphic on the heel could have been passed up. But then again, that’s only my personal preference.

How to Cop a Custom Pair

If you’d like to have a custom pair of Woody sneakers crafted for you, whether it be on the Air Jordan 6 or any other sneaker model, you’d do well to reach out to Johnny Skinz of @skinzcustoms. He’s the mastermind you’ll want, weaving your dream into reality.

His virtual doors are currently shut, but he’ll be back in business starting from July 1st. However, you’re more than welcome to ping your queries via the contact form on his online portal.
