As we look ahead to the 2024 festive season, it’s clear we’ve got an exciting line-up of sneaker releases to anticipate. It’s hard not to imagine the joy and perhaps a tinge of dread that lies ahead as we contemplate the barrage of stunning new releases set to lighten our wallets between October and December. From the captivating women’s Air Jordan 11 “Bred Velvet” to the much-awaited comeback of the Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement” in its original form, holding back from indulgence seems a formidable task. Now, adding to the growing roster of desirable sneakers vying for our attention is the sweet Air Jordan 12 “Blueberry”.

What Can We Expect From The Air Jordan 12 “Blueberry”?

Just so you know, the Air Jordan 12 “Blueberry” is yet another gem from this year’s end of year lineup with no official images released as yet. However, thanks to the sneaker insiders, @zsneakerheads, we have a few mockup images that give us a sneak peek into what we can expect. Plus, they have stated that these designs do accurately portray the awaited kicks. That said, I’ll always take any information not directly from the brand with a pinch of salt.

However, the design elements of this new release are anticipated to be a direct reflection of the “Cherry” colourway, which made a retro comeback last year (2023). So, you can expect to see the same perfect balance of “White” and “Black” in the design. However, the twist comes in the form of replacing the “Varsity Red” hue with a vibrant blue “Game Royal”, offering a new but equally bold look.

Sneaker Design

Taking its colour blocking directly from the original, the Air Jordan 12 “Blueberry” presents a crisp “White” tumbled leather upper accentuated by the beautiful sunrise-inspired stitching. This clean and classic aesthetic is given more depth with “Black” accents adorning the branding, inner lining, and pull tabs.

The design retains the metallic hints around the eyelets from the previous colourway. However, it switches things up by swapping the “Cherry’s” gorgeous red snakeskin mudguard with a “Game Royal” blue counterpart. This navy-blue tone also extends to the Jumpman logo patch resting above the midsole.

Finally, the aesthetic finishes with a duo-tone blue and white midsole and a blue rubber outsole. Of course, It wouldn’t be an AJ 12 without the “Black” Jumpman logo subtly peeping out from beneath the sole unit.

Still, while the “Blueberry” AJ 12 colourway is certainly not something to frown upon, I can’t help but wish that the Jordan Brand paid tribute to the beloved “French Blue” AJ 12 design if it had a blue and white colour scheme in mind.

True sneakerheads will no doubt remember its striking design from the last release back in 2016. And with this year marking the 20th anniversary since its original launch in 2004, it’s hard not to see this as a missed chance for a sneaker colourway that, undoubtedly, would be welcomed with open arms by the sneakerhead community.

All things considered, the “Blueberry” Air Jordan 12 still makes a noteworthy contribution to the Holiday 2024 lineup, particularly for sneakerheads who love the aesthetic of the original ‘Cherry’ design that it is inspired by.
