As the highly anticipated Paris Olympics draw near, we’re starting to see official images of the special edition sneakers that will be part of the celebration. Among the standout pairs in the lineup is the stunning Air Jordan 4 SE “Paris Olympics” better known as the “Wet Cement”. But there’s much more to these sneakers than just their celebratory spirit—it’s their striking aesthetics that’s got everyone talking.
A Closer Look at the Sneaker
Dressed in “Smoke Grey”, “Iron Grey”, “Cement Grey”, and “Particle Grey”, the colour scheme seemingly pays homage to the cobblestone streets of Paris. However, the design’s resemblance to the 2017 Kaws x Air Jordan 4 “Cool Grey” hasn’t gone unnoticed.
With its all-grey upper, we can certainly see the resemblance. However, this sneaker boasts unique features, including a nubuck base, textured suede mudguard, and glittery grey wing and heel tabs. Finally, the shoe sits atop a chunky grey sole unit, complete with a visible Air bubble at the heel.
Despite being dubbed the “poor man’s Kaws,” we think this design holds its own as a stylish and attention-grabbing sneaker that you definitely want to add to your radar this season.
Air Jordan 4 SE “Wet Cement” Release Details
This Paris-themed AJ4 is scheduled for release on 27 July 2024. You can find these sneakers on Nike.com, SNKRS US, and select retailers for around $225 (men) and $170 (GS)—a bargain when you compare it to the actual Kaws collab, which currently resells for a good couple of thousands.
