Elphaba & Glinda's Magical Energies Combine In Wicked Sneakers

Ground Up International and Walmart have partnered to release a pair of playful Wicked-inspired high-top sneakers.

Social media has been taken over by all things Wicked since the 2024 premiere of the Jon M. Chu-directed movie. Whenever you scroll through your social pages, you’re bound to find videos of individuals dressing themselves in Wicked-themed apparel from head to toe or influencers flaunting the numerous Wicked-inspired merch they’ve received. Suppose all this excitement has left you feeling green with envy or perhaps tickled pink. In that case, you’ll be pleased to hear that Ground Up International and Walmart have teamed up to introduce a pair of high-top sneakers that draw inspiration from the movie’s lead characters-and you can grab them right now!

A Closer Look At The Sneaker

While Walmart and Ground Up are just two of the businesses participating in the current Wicked merchandise craze, their take on the theme is definitely one of the more playful interpretations of the two characters.

Elphaba and Glinda, the iconic characters from Wicked, are synonymous with the colours green and pink, so naturally, the high-top sneakers blend both of these hues into a single, distinctive design. The shoes have a green base on the right foot and pink on the left, with translucent ombre overlays that combine both hues at the ankle and toe. However, silver glitter accents around the eyestays and white twill laces help to balance out the colour palette and add a little extra flair.

Finally, to relate the designs back to their respective characters, “Defy Gravity” is inscribed on the rear of the right shoe along with an image of a witch’s hat in tribute to Elphaba. And you can spot “Perfectly Pink” and a pink butterfly on the left shoe in celebration of Glinda. To finish things off, the shoes come with “Wicked” lace dubraes in both green and pink colours.
