2025 is a BIG deal for retro sneaker fans, especially for those who love all things Air Jordan. The next gem set to join this year’s nostalgic parade of sneaker releases is the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua,” an iconic colourway that first made its mark in the early ’90s.

This year will be a decade since the last release of the “Aqua” AJ8 colourway – so we’d say it’s high time these legendary sneakers saw a return.
This is a colourway steeped in nostalgia and sentimentality, so there’s no better time to have it make a comeback than for the brand’s 40th milestone.
For those who may not be as familiar with the look, the “Black/True Red-Iron Grey-Bright Concord-Aquatone” colourway is famously known for its appearance at the 1993 NBA All-Star Game – on Mike’s feet, of course. But there’s definitely more to its fame than just its ties to the GOAT.
It boasts dark “Black” durabuck uppers, tonal anti-inversion cross straps, and an “Iron Grey” panel that wraps around the eyestays and heels.
But the true highlight of the design is the mix of “Bright Concord” and “Aquatone” on the mudguard and midsole. It’s what gives these kicks their distinct ’90s vibe. This colour combination is also used on the plush chenille patches at the tongue, with just a dash of “True Red” on the Jumpman logo in its centre for the perfect finishing touch.
We can’t leave out the glittery accents on the midsole, which is present in this year’s design. It does seem to be a more tamed sprinkling of the sparkly stuff. So, this is likely going to be a detail that divides Jordan fans. Some want more of the shine, others want less.

This classic colourway is expected to arrive on July 19th, 2025. Pairs will be available on Nike.com and through select retailers in full family sizing. Men’s sizes are expected to retail at $210 USD.
