Baseball has a storied history with iconic players and memorable moments that have solidified its place in American sports culture. Part of that rich history includes the California Angels, a team that has seen its fair share of success, heartbreak and name changes over the years. This custom “California Angels” Jordan 1 High custom design by Lucas Pate remembers the team’s 1993-1994 MLB seasons when they still went by the titular name.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
The base shoe for this design appears to be the “Rare Air” Air Jordan 1 High OG “Cinnabar” released in April. However, Pate has added a number of distinctive touches that make this custom even more rare than its base shoe.
Beautiful stitch work on the lateral toe, eyestays, and ankle flap mimics the look of the stitching of a baseball, while the “CA” emblems on the mud flap pay homage to the California Angels baseball team. To make things even more intriguing, the shoes include the signatures of both Tim Salmon and JT Snow on the heel.
Needless to say, Pate was able to transform an already stunning sneaker into a genuinely one-of-a-kind, customised work of art that any California Angels fan would be honoured to call their own.
