It’s no secret that basketball ace LeBron James is not only a giant on the court but also an avid football enthusiast – or, more particularly, a fan of Liverpool FC. The star of the Lakers is, in fact, a part-owner of the prestigious English football club. It’s a club he holds so dear that he’s chosen to incorporate the team’s green and gold into one of his exceptional sneaker designs: the new Liverpool FC x Nike LeBron NXXT Gen AMPD.

Of course, this isn’t our first taste of a “Liverpool” colourway from LeBron and Nike. A memorable moment was back in 2011 when LeBron first secured a minority stake in the team. To commemorate the notable occasion, fans were given the opportunity to snag a special “Liverpool” LeBron 9 Low, a sneaker that still fetches at least double its original retail value on the resale market.

Since then, we’ve seen a LeBron 20 release and a striking Air Max 1 paying homage to the Liverpool F.C. kits. However, the latest addition to this series dials up the luxury with an aesthetic blend of “Light Orewood Brown,” “Black,” “Washed Teal,” and “Metallic Gold.”

The Liverpool FC x Nike LeBron NXXT Gen AMPD’s upper features a “Light Orewood Brown leather” complemented by a mesh fabric of the same hue. “Black” accents are then tastefully applied to the tongue, laces, and inner lining to further enhance the look. Complementary ‘black’ notes are also featured on the Swoosh logos on both the medial and lateral sides of the shoe. This adds just that little extra cohesive touch.

A smaller “Washed Teal” embroidered Swoosh also enters the mix. This logo adorns the shoe’s lateral side, matched with a patterned “Washed Teal” insole bearing an unknown inscription. We hoped to read the team’s legendary “You’ll Never Walk Alone” slogan there, but we’ll hold our breath until the big reveal.

The famous Liverpool F.C. logo finds its place in “Metallic Gold” on the tongue, while the team’s “LFC” logo occupies a black tab on the heel in the same golden hue. To complete the rich look, “Metallic Gold” also adds a touch of luxury to the eyelet fittings and the medial swoosh.

Finally, putting a bow on the Liverpool FC x Nike LeBron sneaker is the “Light Orewood Brown” midsole paired with a trendy “Washed Teal” outsole. This understated and refined look, accented with gold for an elegant effect, is one any Liverpool fan could wear with pride. It may not instantly shout LFC premier league merchandise but it does effortlessly exudes a high-end away-kit vibe. What do you think?

For those eager to own the Liverpool FC x Nike LeBron NXXT Gen AMPD, keep your eyes open for the March 7, 2024 launch. These limited-edition sneakers will be available on Nike.com and select Nike retailers for $170 USD in men’s sizes.
