The 2024 Holiday season has a lot going on for sneaker enthusiasts. Must-have sneakers are being added to the festive lineup almost weekly now. And while we certainly expected a Kobe Bryant sneaker drop to be a part of the end-of-year festivities, who would have expected it to come in the form of the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Kobe Bryant”?

Why The Air Force 1?

While the end of the year will include a release or two from Kobe’s own signature line with Nike, the added bonus of an Air Force 1 Low with his signature Mamba branding is a much-welcomed gift from Vanessa Bryant and the Swoosh Label. What makes this team up even more special, though, is the late legends’ close ties to the AF1 model.

Before Kobe became an official Nike athlete, this iconic sneaker model was already a staple in his rotation. This included special ‘home’ and ‘away’ Lakers Player Exclusive colourways of the Nike Air Force 1 Mid, which he wore during his early years in the NBA.

Unsurprisingly, the upcoming release will be “inspired by Kobe’s season as a sneaker free agent,” according to Vanessa Bryant, who also shared a sneak peek of what fans can expect. The AF1 Low is already a highly sought-after sneaker, but this merger with the Kobe brand will surely make it even more coveted.

Inside Look: Nike Air Force 1 Low “Kobe Bryant”

Vanessa Bryant’s Instagram snapshot gives us an idea of what to expect. The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Kobe Bryant” sports the classic Lakers colours – “Varsity Maize” and “Varsity Purple” – all contrasted against a crisp “White” canvas.

The shoe’s upper, inner lining, laces, and midsole shine white. This pure white shade is the perfect backdrop, allowing the striking Laker’s colours to stand out, true to their heritage.

Taking centre stage is the bright “Varsity Maize,” accentuating the tongue label, heel tab, rubber outsole, and midsole “Air” branding; it also gloriously wraps the iconic leather Nike Swoosh.

The “Varsity Purple” hue beneath the Swoosh provides a dark, complementary contrast, echoing the Lakers vibe.

This unique mix of bright yellow and deep purple flawlessly replicates the legendary Lakers colour scheme, making the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Kobe Bryant” a must-have for both Kobe fans and Lakers supporters. GO TEAM!

Beyond just the colour scheme, the signature Kobe Sheath logo embossed on the heel is a meaningful nod to the late basketball player’s legacy. However, since the pictures shared by Vanessa do not fully disclose the design, we’re eagerly waiting to discover other Kobe-inspired detailing in this tribute sneaker. And maybe even an additional colourway.

Nike Air Force 1 Low “Kobe Bryant” Key Release Information

For those eager to honour Kobe’s legacy with these sneakers, it looks as though the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Kobe Bryant” will be slated for release “later in the year,” according to Vanessa. However, rumour mills point towards a Mamba Day or Holiday 2024 launch, but I’d recommend a cautious approach and wait for official word from Nike and Mrs Bryant.

These sneakers can be yours for $145 USD from Nike.com and selected retailers upon their release. If you are keen to grab your pair, be sure to stay tuned for more images and release information. Until then, you can follow us for more releases and reviews in the world of sneakers.

Are you hoping to get your hands on the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Kobe Bryant” sneaker?
