Last year, sneaker enthusiasts were introduced to Ja Morant’s first signature Halloween-inspired sneaker, highlighted with a unique green palette and zombie-themed details. However, with a fresh year and a new design, the Nike Ja 2 “Nightmare” is here to deliver a spookier and bolder aesthetic that may remind you of one of the most iconic horror music videos ever produced.

A Closer Look At The Sneaker Design

When you lay eyes on the Nike Ja 2 “Nightmare”, it’s hard not to think of Michael Jackson’s legendary Thriller music video. Stay with us.

The striking red upper with black detailing evokes MJ’s iconic leather jacket from the video. Then, there are the werewolf-inspired touches like the black furry fabric on the heels, the signature “Morant” teeth lace dubraes, and an embroidered cat eye that harks back to the eerie werewolf transformation scene.

The theme continues with zombie hand graphics on the heels, adding another haunting layer of homage to the music video. The shoe is rounded off with a black midsole and red rubber outsole, emblazoned with the motivational quote: “For the underdogs who have the dawg in them” underneath.

Perhaps we’re letting our imaginations run wild with these comparisons. However, the details feel eerily familiar. If it does indeed draw inspiration from the classic horror video, it certainly adds an extra layer of nostalgic fun to the shoe’s overall design.

Nike Ja 2 “Nightmare” Release Details

Ja Morant’s new Halloween-themed sneakers, the Nike Ja 2 ‘Nightmare ‘, will be readily available on Nike.com and at select Nike retailers on October 25, 2024. The collection will be available in a range of different sizes, with men’s pairs priced at $150 USD, grade school sizes at $105 USD, and preschool sizes at $75 USD per pair.

Yet, the spooky festivities don’t stop there. Several other Nike styles are ready for the spooky season. Take a look at these Nike Dunk Lows, which embrace Spider-Man’s black symbiote suit, with its sleek black design and subtle web patterns, or the whimsical Air Jordan 1 Low “Black Cat,” which features unique cat-inspired details. And remember to follow Sneaker Fortress to stay updated on more upcoming releases, perfect for the Halloween season!
