The incredible custom sneaker and custom fashion artist Texas Migo has done it again, making a gorgeous pair of custom sneakers while championing their cause of being mindful of waste in the fashion world. Their gorgeous brand represents many beautiful concepts made from recycled material, including this pair of Nike SB Dunk Low sneakers created in honour of All But 6 Records. Let’s take a look at these magnificent Nike SB Dunk Low “All But 6” sneakers.
Nike SB Dunk Low “All But 6” Sneakers
These gorgeous sneakers start with a cream rubber outsole, topped by an off-toned white midsole. This incredibly plain sole unit provides the perfect anchor for the otherwise loud and busy upper.
Speaking of the loud and busy upper, the sneakers are made of a myriad of different recycled and thrifted fabrics, which were hand-picked and hand-cut for the project. The textures include hemp, canvas, plaid, denim, and even a thick corduroy-like material that you would expect to see on an expensive corset or your grandmother’s discarded couch cushions.
The fabrics interchange from section to section, with the medial quarter being denim with inspirational quotes from All But 6 scrawled across it in permanent marker. This only adds to the sneakers’ incredible patchwork feel. The All But 6 branding on the denim toe box uses the same technique.
The rest of the sneaker chops and changes between materials and patterns are used throughout the sneakers. Still, the hand-stitching brings them all together, continuing the patchwork theme of the sneakers and giving them an incredibly endearing quality.
The inner lining and heel tab seem to be the only parts of the sneakers that were left relatively untouched, besides the tongue. They maintain the creamy shade of the rubber outsole in their original textures, with the heel tab representing the original buttery-smooth leather and the inner lining represented in a waffle-like breathable mesh.
As mentioned, the tongue remains untouched in a white textile that matches the sneakers’ rubber midsole, while chunky rope laces are visible over the white tongue.
What we like about them
Loving the inspiration and the design of these sneakers is one thing. Still, the overall message behind them is something worth loving.
When custom sneakers are created, they inherently create and reduce waste. For example, a pair of sneakers is taken apart to make a new pair, but some parts are discarded, and others are kept.
The artist behind these sneakers has cleverly incorporated a way to reduce the waste of making them into the design by making them recycled and thrifted fabrics, making the patchwork mismatched quality a design feature of the sneakers.
Here at Sneaker Fortress, we love a gorgeous pair of sneakers. We love them even more when they champion a good cause like sustainability and represent an excellent record company. Sneakers have plenty going for them and many reasons to like them.
