adidas first partnered with Pharrell Williams in 2014 for a collection of Stan Smith sneakers with a monochrome palette. The duo has extended their partnership with a number of collaborations over the decade, taking the partnership to new heights with the introduction of the Humanrace collection released in 2016. Extending this even further, the partnership has once again been renewed, this time for the adidas X Pharrell Williams Humanrace Adizero EVO SL ‘Earth’ colourway.

The Humanrace Adizero EVO SL ‘Earth’ takes its design cues from the more elite runner, the Adios Pro EVO 1. Keeping its DNA across the shoes, it features a striking build, which has a full range of everyday movement. The EVO SL was designed for purpose-led runners – those wanting to look and feel fast.

For its latest footwear pack, the shoe is available in minimalist colourways of White and Black. The design of the upper features a motion-blue effect across the top down to the midsole, activating further at speed. Its signature three stripes is featured in green, blue and brown stripes, contrasting against the minimalist background. These colours were specifically chosen as a nod to the colours of our planet, extending the Humanrace message of promoting unity and connection through movement.

The outsole includes a full-length Lightstrike Pro foam underfoot. As such, it provides the shoe with a high stack, a smooth and dynamic ride, and a deliberately powered feel without stiffening elements. The upper is crafted from a mesh material to deliver zone-specific support, enhancing breathability where it matters most.

Overall, the Adizero EVO SL provides a regular fit with a standard lace approach and a textile upper. The textile material is also featured in the sockliner and inners. Rounding off its engineering is the rubber outsole attached to the Lightstrike Pro midsole, giving it all-surface support.

Over the years, adidas and Humanrace have pushed their message of unity. For its latest collection, the duo invite runners into a ritual of running reimagined, where movements become meaning, performance meets purpose, and intentions underlie motion.

The Adizero EVO SL ‘Earth’ takes a measured approach to rethink running, not only as a sport, but as a holistic practice and everyday act of care for body, mind, and spirit. It was built for those fleeting moments, while also embracing the slow ones. It offers everyday cushioning that supports recovery as much as it does acceleration.

This perspective positions running as part of a wide ecosystem of wellbeing, bringing with it a way to reset, restore and strengthen. Speaking on the most recent release, Pharrell Williams had this to say:

“Humanrace is about transforming the everyday into the intentional – by creating tools that champion a way of living where individual and collective well-being are inseparable. With the Adizero EVO SL, Humanrace and adidas are bringing intention to running and the act of recovery. Every run with the Adizero EVO SL is a chance to align mind, body, and purpose, creating moments of performance in service of being well.”

The adidas x Humanrace Adizero EVO SL ‘Earth’ by Pharrell Williams is available online at adidas.co.za, as well as in-store exclusively at the Sandton Halo store. It retails for R3,299.
