Custom sneaker artists have been exploring even more creative ways to personalise classic silhouettes. We’ve seen some pretty unusual materials and methods used to create the perfect custom pair. Even though tattoo sneaker designs aren’t particularly new, @pointures.art’s custom Nike “Tattoo” sneaker series definitely offers a fresh take on the method.

For their take on the trend, @pointures.art collaborated with tattoo artist @wanlebongamin to produce what they term the “one-cut” collection.

These sneakers are made by wet moulding and shaping a single piece of leather to produce a seamless upper. The leather is then decorated with hand-drawn tattoo designs in the shape of the model’s usual overlays and Swooshes.

The tattoo accents are made that much more special thanks to their intricate detailing. The artists have were inspired by Japanese art when creating the complex combination of patterns and symbols along the faux overlays.

The team has already used this unique approach on Nike’s classic Air Force 1 Low and Air Max 1 silhouettes. And chances are, more models will be added in the future.

If you want your own pair of tattooed kicks, make sure to contact @pointures.art via Instagram or their website.
