Paige Bueckers may have only signed with Nike back in September 2023, but she’s already beaten out some of the biggest names in women’s basketball to be known as the first NIL athlete to design and launch a Nike Player Edition basketball sneaker. This holiday season, the young UConn Huskies star will debut a Nike G.T. Hustle 3 of her own, so let’s take a closer look at all the selling points of this highly anticipated sneaker.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
In homage to Bueckers’ two favourite hues, this special design incorporates a baby blue and lavender purple colourway across the model’s radial knit upper. The area codes for Paige’s hometown in Minnesota and the University of Connecticut are also included on the left tongue, while her initials are displayed on the right tongue inside of a crosshatched bucket.
Another reference to her moniker can be found at the right heel, where the word “buckets” is used to replace “Bueckers.” To complete this special sneaker design, the left heel carries a text bubble with the inspiring phrase ‘Be You, Be Great, ‘ a message Paige receives from her father before every game.
We must admit that Nike and Bueckers did a fantastic job narrating her story with this distinctive sneaker design. But what’s even more appropriate for the young basketball star is that the G.T. Hustle 3 was designed with women at the forefront. Over 90% of the testers and developers of the silhouette were female athletes. This means the radial knit uppers, multidirectional traction pattern, and double-stacked Air Zoom cushioning are all technological characteristics that are specifically designed to satisfy the demands of female basketball players. This shoe is a beautiful tribute to the advancements in women’s basketball over the past few years and to Paige’s extraordinary skill and impact in the game.
Paige Buekers Nike G.T. Hustle 3 Release Details
Paige Bueckers Player Edition Nike G.T. Hustle 3 will be available to purchase on December 7, 2024, through Nike SNKRS as well as select retailers. The price of each pair will be $190 USD for adult sizes.
