If you’re one of the lucky 180 people in the world rocking the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Board Of Greatness” PE, congratulations—your sneaker collection now includes something rarer than a Kanye apology. Former NBA champion and three-time All-Star Rip Hamilton just gave us a look at this ultra-exclusive pair on Instagram, and the details are just as wild as the backstory.

“40 years of Greatness big bro 🐐! @jumpman23 Appreciate you! It’s truly about family 🫡,” Rip wrote in his post, revealing his personal pair—numbered 105 out of 180—alongside matching “Board of Greatness” apparel, a cap, and a premium bag. And when we say premium, we mean the kind of leather that looks like it was cut from a Hermes handbag and massaged with coconut oil.

But this isn’t just another pretty sneaker drop. These Jordans come with some serious sentiment. Included with the pair is a personal letter from the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan. Printed on crisp letterhead, the message reads like a motivational locker room speech mixed with a brand masterclass.

“WELCOME TO JORDAN BOARD OF GREATNESS 2025!” it begins. “It is fitting that we are in Greece, the birthplace of the Olympics and the modern athlete… We’re here to celebrate our successes, to learn from our failures, and to plan for our opportunities.”

Jordan goes on to praise the athletes and entertainers who’ve stood by the brand and made it what it is today—while giving a nod to the 40-year legacy of Jumpman. The whole tone of the letter? Straight-up family reunion with sneakers and champagne.

So what exactly is this mysterious “Board of Greatness”? Think of it as Jordan Brand’s version of the Illuminati, but with better footwear. It’s an ultra-exclusive inner circle of athletes, celebrities, creatives, and longtime collaborators who’ve all played a role in building the empire. And no, you’re probably not getting an invite unless your last name is Jordan—or you’ve got eight Pro Bowl appearances like NFL star Cam Jordan.

Cam, by the way, also shared his own Board of Greatness care package, which included the unreleased Travis Scott x Fragment Design x Air Jordan 1 Low OG. Yeah, these packages don’t show up at your average influencer event.

As for the shoes themselves, the “Board of Greatness” PE features a light brown upper, soft leather, and custom branding on the tongue and heel. Subtle flex, loud message. With only 180 pairs floating around the globe, you’ve got a better shot at finding a pair of ‘85 Chicago 1s in deadstock condition than snagging these.

Still, for Rip Hamilton and the rest of the Jordan inner circle, it’s not just about the kicks. It’s about loyalty, legacy, and what comes next. And if you’re not on the board? Don’t worry. There’s always Instagram.
