The Spot is an interesting character in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse; he starts out as a character that some regarded as rather sweet, just trying to get by in the circumstances that he found himself in, and actually wasn’t taken seriously until he became a multiversal threat. Scorned and ignored, The Spot absorbed the super-collider, a similar device to the one that had created him and actually created Miles Morales’ Spider-Man.
At Fortress of Solitude, we have loved all the Spider-Verse custom sneakers cropping up since the Spider-Verse trilogy started. As we are preparing for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, let’s take a look at these beautiful sneakers that our designer, Brandon Krige, has created for us.

Starting from the bottom, we have a semi-translucent but dark outsole that starts the metaphor of The Spot’s transformation once he has absorbed the super-collider. Every element of him is inverted and transformed; the same is true for the sneakers.
The milky white midsole of the previous pair has been replaced with a much more rugged grey midsole with a kind of cross-hatch texture that makes the sole unit feel much more rugged. The sole unit really sets the tone for the rest of this pair of sneakers.
Moving on to the upper, we see the classic patent leather of the Air Jordan 11 sneakers, which is ideally used to bring the duo-chrome and colour-shifting look of The Spot after his transformation, as you can see both blue and purple peeking through the black of the patent leather. The white upper of the previous pair has been entirely replaced by the dark grey, almost black, of The Spot’s body after the transformation. The black is present on the entire upper that doesn’t fall into the patent leather section, including the mesh upper, the inner lining, the tongue, and the lace unit.

Blue decorative lacing throughout the sneakers, which once showed dimension, now highlights the pink shifting of the multi-verse visible in The Spot’s transformation. And, of course, because The Spot is no longer creating these multiversal portals but has instead embodied them in his latest form, the spots that once covered his body and the sneakers have been replaced with white spirals, symbolic of his losing his control on reality and his form as the immense power spirals out of control.
As a pair, these sneakers perfectly highlight The Spot’s descent into villainy and multiversal power. They also provide a stunning pair of sneakers in their own right that are inverted and similar enough that you can wear them together or separately.
