Nike Dunk Low sneakers are some of the most customised sneakers in the world at the moment. Their simple design and beautiful overlays leave a lot of room for the imagination to run rampant. Thanks to this, many beautiful custom sneakers, like these Superman x Nike Dunks, have been created.
It’s A Bird! It’s A Plane! It’s Superman Nike Dunks
It’s challenging to find a more recognisable character than Superman, with his emblem’s bright, primary colours and shape instantly telling you exactly who he is. It should come as no surprise that these sneakers make use of the same primary colours to bring his image to life ideally.
Design Breakdown
Starting from the bottom, the gum soles of the Nike Dunk Low sneakers have been coloured red to start off the sneakers, matching Superman’s own boots. The outsole is complemented by white midsoles, the only white in the colourway, grounding the sneakers with light.
The sneakers’ uppers are luxurious smooth leather, each panel thoughtfully coloured with Superman’s thematic colours. Starting with the outer sections of the sneakers, the perforated toe box and the collar area are coloured with the lightest shades of blue in the colourway. The same blue continues from the toe box up the lace unit, making up the laces of the left sneaker.
The quarter of the sneakers then takes on a slightly darker blue, surrounded by much darker blue panelling, including the mudguard and the lace unit, wrapping around the back of the sneakers.
The Iconic Swoosh & Superman Branding
The Nike Swoosh is particularly beautiful, contrasting the sneakers and matching the Superman emblem on the heel with a red border surrounding a bright yellow Swoosh.
The tongue and the lace aglets bring in a little bit of a human element like Superman’s skin, coloured with light tan, while the inner lining and heel tab take on a stark red shade that matches the laces of the right sneaker and represent Superman’s cape.
The striking Superman x Nike Dunks perfectly represents the Last Son of Krypton in sneaker form.
The Sneaker Artists Behind the Design
These stunning custom Superman Nike Dunks were made in December of 2023. One of our favourite sneaker artists, Dariyn Enriquez, better known as @dope_don_designs on Instagram, designed them. While the artist is more than capable of turning their own concepts into a reality, this particular pair was brought to life by the brilliant artist “Scottttt H.” otherwise known as @think.scott.
We rarely get to see two amazing artists working together on a pair of customs, and the craftsmanship that went into making the sneakers really shows.
