Polish shoemaker Margiello (@margiello_) has a talent for reimagining popular sneaker designs onto unexpected silhouettes. We’ve already admired his Hom(air) Simpson Air Max 1s inspired by the adidas Stan Smith, as well as his “Hemp Green” Sean Wotherspoon x Air Max 1s that infuse the aesthetics of the adidas Gazelle collab into the classic Nike silhouette. Now, Margiello has turned his creative attention to the iconic Air Jordan 1, infusing it with an on-trend theme inspired by one of Nike SB’s most coveted collaborations of all time: the Nike SB “Paris”.
Paris-Inspired Sneakers
Undoubtedly, this year’s Summer Olympics in Paris has sparked a wave of sneaker designs inspired by the city. Whether it’s been Air Jordan 4s inspired by Paris’s cobblestone streets or Nike SB releases honouring the city’s rich theatrical history, there have been plenty of eye-catching designs to win sneakerheads over. Yet, despite this influx of themed sneakers, the title of the most coveted design inspired by Paris still goes to the Nike SB Dunks from 2002.
The Nike SB “Paris”
These sneakers were designed to honour the influence of some of the world’s most iconic cities on skate culture. With only 202 pairs created, and no two exactly alike, these kicks stand out as a collector’s dream (with a five-figure price tag to match). But let’s be honest: as sought-after as these beauties are, we can all agree on how equally stunning the design looks when merged with the Air Jordan 1 silhouette!
A Closer Look At The Air Jordan 1 “Paris”
This brings us back to Margiello’s exceptional design skills. The sneaker artist has seamlessly adapted the essence of the Nike SB “Paris” to the classic AJ1 silhouette.
The design features a neutral tan suede base with canvas overlays adorned with the vibrant artwork of French painter Bernard Buffet. Red accents embellish the profile Swooshes and tongue, with branding details on the tags mirroring those found on the Nike SB Dunk rather than the traditional AJ1 branding.
The pair boasts a classic white midsole and black rubber outsole to pull the look together, while tan laces add the finishing touch. This look is the perfect tribute to Parisian art and Nike SB’s longstanding legacy.
Is The Air Jordan 1 “Paris” Available For Purchase?
