In 2025, Jordan Brand will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a nostalgic journey, bringing back an extensive range of classic colourways. Some of these designs will come just as fans remember them, but others will be reimagined and, yes, even chopped off at the ankle for a fresh look. One popular colourway receiving the low-top treatment this year is the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Obsidian,” released back in 2019.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
Much to the pleasure of low-top fans everywhere, this new “Obsidian” model has the same stylish colour blocking as its high-top predecessor. Sneakerheads are offered the same “Sail” leather backdrop, “University Blue” overlays at the heel, as well as eyestays, profile swooshes, and forefoot overlays in the titular “Obsidian” colour.
Even better, the materials are just as plush as we remember, with most of the uppers from top-to-toe covered in gently tumbled leather.
Below, the same sail midsole and obsidian outsole from the 2019 high-top model complete the iconic look. So, other than a chunk off the ankle (and retail price), you aren’t losing much of the iconic look by choosing the low-cut version of this timeless colourway.
Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG “Obsidian” Release Details
If you want to get your hands on a pair of these low-top “Obsidian” AJ1 sneakers, they’ll be available on March 29, 2025. The design will be released in full family sizing on Nike SNKRS and at select retailers, with prices offered at $140 for men, $120 for grade school, $75 for preschool, and $65 for toddler sizes.
However, the excitement doesn’t end with the “Obsidian” AJ1. Plenty of other coveted Jordan 1 colourways are coming out in low-top form this year.
