We all have a pair of sneakers that we can’t bear to retire, no matter how worn out they get. However, the Air Jordan 3 “Sashiko” custom by Savoir-Faire Paris gives us new inspiration for those beloved yet dishevelled sneakers in our collection.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
While this custom pair might look like an old-school favourite, it’s actually a brand-new pair that has been customized to bring the charm of a well-loved, repaired piece. By integrating traditional Japanese sashiko stitching and patchwork fabrics, Savoir-Faire Paris gives the AJ3 a distinctive look that can inspire us all to refresh our own cherished favourites.
If you’re not quite up to speed, sashiko is an age-old Japanese embroidery technique that is used for reinforcing and mending textiles. On these sneakers, you can see sashiko come into play across the upper with intricate stitching accentuating the shoes worn green bandana fabric. Beneath, cream-coloured canvas peeks out, offering a striking contrast.
From there, the toe and heel sections spotlight the canvas material, with green bandana patches showing through underneath. Plus, the artfully distressed heel tabs reveal “Boro” and “Sashiko” kanji characters emerging from the clean white leather below.
Finally, pops of yellow on the tongue, branding, eyelets, and midsole complete the summer-ready color scheme. These could easily be the most breathtaking distressed sneakers we’ve come across in a long time.
