Joe Freshgoods is known for his gorgeous collaborations. Still, his latest one with New Balance is on a whole different level. Bringing the New Balance 1000 out of the archives for the first time since the early 2000s, the collaborative pair introduces the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 “Black Ice”.
Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 “Black Ice”
The New Balance 1000 silhouette has been hidden in the archives for some time now, and New Balance and Joe Freshgoods are ready to take them out and brush the dust off. Returning for the first time in over a decade, the classic 1990s silhouette returns with a fresh new look in collaboration with Joe Freshgoods.
The upper retains its classic look from the early 2000s, with its open-knit mesh upper covered in leather overlays that take on a gorgeous rosy copper tone that is almost metallic matte.
Branding throughout the sneakers has been altered to include both the New Balance, 1000, and “JFG” names, including on the forefoot, on the tongue, and even on the sock liner. The tongue and the sock liner also wear co-branded custom flame graphics to clarify precisely where these sneakers come from.
The insole is a stunning teal shade that perfectly juxtaposes the copper of the outer shell of the sneakers.
What We Like About Them
Anything Y2K is a good bet at the moment because we love the nostalgia that fashion from that era gives us. Considering these sneakers haven’t been seen outside of the archive in a while and have a colourway that is just so beautifully inspired by the early 2000s, they are sure to be a hit not only with us but also with the sneakerhead community.
The co-branded flame details are also an incredibly cool touch that adds a level of sophistication to the sneakers that we don’t want to miss. If you want to see more Y2K-inspired sneakers that New Balance has on offer this year, you can see it here.
Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 “Black Ice” Release Details
As of today, April 19, 2024, these sneakers will be available through New Balance and many other connected retailers. However, the same can’t be said for the pair that they dropped with the New Balance 1000 “Pink Mink,” which has a much more limited release and won’t even reach the New Balance website. The “Pink Mink” pair will be exclusively sold on Joe Freshgoods’ website.
Where they are purchasable, these sneakers will sell for around $159.99, at least while stocks last. Once they reach the after-sale markets, there needs to be a telling of how much these sneakers might be worth. That being said, the sneakers are already sold out on the New Balance site despite the site limiting sales to one per person. Demand for these sneakers is incredibly high, as you can tell from the following clip that Joe Freshgoods shared on his Instagram.
