Over the years, many official Nike releases have been recreated on the Air Jordan 1 silhouette, including greats like the Air Jordan 11’s “Space Jam” colourway and, of course, even the iconic Jordan “Hare” design first seen on Bugs Bunny himself. But what if one of the best Foamposite One releases ever made an appearance as an Air Jordan 1 High? Well, we get a peek at what the spooky sneaker might look like thanks to John Trottier’s (@johnnyskicks_) “Paranorman” Air Jordan 1 High concept, and it’s pretty amazing.
What Makes The “Paranorman” Foamposite One So Special
In case you’re not familiar with the original design, Nike produced their eerie ‘Paranorman’ Foamposites to commemorate the release of the animated film of the same name from Laika Studio, which happens to be founded by Phil Knight, the former CEO of Nike.
A mere 800 pairs of the sneakers were produced, most of which were picked up by fortunate Twitter users who shared their ‘weirdest’ childhood pictures in order to win a pair. A smaller quantity of less than 100 pairs was offered for sale through eBay auctions. And while its exclusivity is surely part of the appeal, you can’t overlook the unique and striking design of the shoe itself.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
In homage to the aesthetics of both the movie and the Air Foamposite One, this incredible concept showcases the Air Jordan 1 silhouette with Vot-coloured flames set against a sinister black upper. However, to mimic the glossy look of the Foamposite One’s shell design, John Trottier imagined a glossy patent leather finish for the entire upper, including the Swoosh logos on the shoe’s side.
A black midsole and green rubber outsole then finish off the look, but we can’t help but think that this pair would have looked even better with a translucent green outsole. What do you think? Would you like to see this design brought to life for Foamposites’ 30th Anniversary?
