Perhaps you’ve seen the newly revealed images of Disney’s up-and-coming addition to the Tron series, Tron Ares. Isn’t it amazing that after a decade’s wait, we’re in for another trip to the grid—or possibly off-grid this time around, given all the teasers? Yet, before we speed ahead into the future with the upcoming film, let’s take a moment to pay tribute to the remarkable contributions of its predecessor, Tron Legacy. The film, released in 2010, took us on a visual rollercoaster ride with its unforgettable illuminated costumes and the futuristic domain of the grid. This unique aesthetic, particularly the stunning light suits, has spurred the creation of the “Tron Legacy” Air Jordan 1 concept sneakers.
It’s hard not to be entranced by the design and aesthetic of the 2010 Tron Legacy film, and a major contributing factor is the mind-blowing grid suits worn by its characters. Essentially, these skin-tight, motocross-inspired outfits are illuminated with polymer-based elastomeric electroluminescent lamps powered by lithium-ion batteries. Even if you have yet to watch the film, you couldn’t miss fans wearing these imaginative costumes at fan gatherings and conventions.

As stated above, these Tron Legacy sneakers are concepts and, sadly, aren’t a reality at the moment. However, we still entertain the dream that Nike might unite with this adored sci-fi franchise to deliver a breathtaking pair of sneakers for the new film’s 2025 release—and who knows, they might resemble this “Tron Legacy” Air Jordan 1 concept sneakers. Wishful thinking, I know.
For now, we’re absolutely impatient to fully discover what the upcoming films will introduce in terms of visual design and outfits. That said, we can still appreciate the standard set by Tron Legacy. It truly raised the bar in the world of sci-fi visual aesthetics.
