Nike SB has consistently delighted sneakerheads with its fluffy sneaker editions. From beloved designs such as the “Grateful Dead Bears” to the somewhat nostalgic “Three Bears Pack,” these designs have long been favourites among sneaker enthusiasts. Now, Nike will soon welcome a new cuddly addition to their collection: the Verdy x Nike SB Dunk Low “Visty.”

Inspiration Behind the Sneaker Design

The latest entry in the Nike SB collection is yet another creative venture with Verdy, the brilliant mind behind Girls Don’t Cry. This time, the design takes its cue from Visty, one of the cherished plush toy characters crafted by the Japanese artist.

Visty made a memorable debut in 2021, honouring Verdy’s Rise Above solo exhibition in Tokyo. The loveable monster has since adorned Verdy’s fashionable garments, graced the cover of the 2022 All Gone book, and even popped up in January 2024 on a T-shirt celebrating Kid Cudi’s upcoming ‘Insano’ album. There seems to be no slowing down for this cuddly character and his talented creator.

It’s evident that Verdy aimed to craft one of the most coveted sneakers of 2024 with this distinct Dunk Low pair, and given the buzz around these, he just may have succeeded.

A Closer Look at the Verdy x Nike SB Dunk Low

The Verdy x Nike SB Dunk Low showcases a delightful pastel colour palette inspired by the charming plushy monster’s signature colours. You’ll notice fluffy green fur gracing the toe box, quarter panels, and tongue. At the same time, the collar boasts a pink variant of the same soft material, perfectly emulating the character’s endearing fuzziness.

Adding to the design, blue corduroy fabric reminiscent of Visty’s tummy and underfoot is used for the shoe’s overlays. The upper’s colourful and playful aesthetic is then beautifully tied together with pink leather Swoosh logos and pastel yellow laces. It’s impossible not to think of Visty when you lay your eyes on these striking kicks.

Of course, we can’t forget the little details that further highlight the shoe’s theme. Special graphics featuring a cartoon version of Visty skating appear on the back of the tongue and the insoles.

This delightful pair also comes with a Visty keychain aligning with the playful graphics, plus two extra sets of laces, giving you the flexibility to refresh the style of these whimsical shoes.

Additional Sneakers Dropping Alongside the “Visty” Dunk Low

The Nike SB Dunk Low “Visty” won’t be stepping onto the scene by itself. It’s set to be released alongside the similarly coloured Nike SB Ishod 2 and a striking black and white “Vick”-themed colourway.

For those unfamiliar, Vick is another one of VERDY’s whimsical creations, blending the characteristics of a panda and a rabbit.

The ‘Vick’ edition, however, is not for the masses. It’s rumoured to be an exclusive release for friends and family, adding a touch of exclusivity and making it a somewhat elusive find for fans eager to grab a pair.

Previous Verdy x Nike SB Collabs

Of course, this isn’t Verdy’s first rendezvous with Nike SB. Back in 2019, Verdy charmed the sneaker world by dressing the iconic silhouette through his brand, Girls Don’t Cry, just in time for Valentine’s Day. One pair saw a limited run in Japan, while the other was a super exclusive Friends & Family edition.

And let’s not overlook the black patchwork denim pair that Verdy dropped later with his Wasted Youth label, adding even more flair to his impressive portfolio.

Given the success of Verdy’s prior collaborations with Nike SB, it’s no wonder these upcoming releases are already generating a similar buzz.
