Few things are scarier than the desert. There’s something unsettling about endless sand, blistering heat, and creatures that could sting you before breakfast. So, it’s fitting that Phoenix Suns’ star Devin Booker, resident desert dweller and October baby, has turned to the scorpion for his latest Halloween drop. Enter the Nike Book 1 “Halloween” 2025, a sneaker that might just be the most slept-on release this spooky season.

First teased on Instagram by @dbookone, the new colorway takes the already sleek Book 1 and drenches it in glossy black patent leather. Every inch of the upper gleams with a subtle menace, covered in an all-over grey scorpion print. The white Swoosh and laces break up the darkness, while a translucent outsole gives the shoe a clean finish. And though Nike hasn’t confirmed it, the glow-in-the-dark look of the sole and Swoosh suggests a few tricks hiding under UV light. Booker himself jumped into the comments of an early unboxing video to tease, “There’s some finer details at play when viewed under a blacklight.”

It’s not the first time Booker’s sneaker line has gone full spooky. Last year’s edition arrived dressed in Frankenstein’s finest: stitched-up Swoosh, eerie green midsole, and a monster-movie energy that made it one of the more playful releases of 2024. But where that pair leaned into horror nostalgia, this year’s model goes sleek and sinister. The scorpion theme ties back to Booker’s late October birthday and Scorpio zodiac sign, giving it a personal sting. And the lenticular finish makes a mostly monochrome shoe shimmer with rainbow reflections when the light hits right. It’s understated from a distance but impossible to ignore up close.

Nike has given the Book 1 an impressive run. With its “Chapter One” debuting just before the end of 2023 and the Book 2 now expected in Spring 2026, fans will have spent three Christmases celebrating the same silhouette. The continued flow of special editions, especially themed pairs like this, proves Nike isn’t ready to turn the page on Booker’s first signature just yet.
Released October 21, 2025, for $155, the Nike Book 1 “Halloween” is up on Nike’s site and select retailers.
