Although the adidas Samba has long been popular in its own right, unique collaborations with various designers have kept this classic silhouette in the spotlight. Recently, Dingyun Zhang reimagined the iconic shoe with a puffy, oversized, yet impeccably sleek leather and suede design. Now, the spotlight turns to Caroline Hu. The talented designer infuses a touch of whimsy and romance into her adidas Originals collaboration with the Reverie by Caroline Hu Samba Collection, presenting sneakerheads with five exquisite sneakers to get their hands on.

The Chinese-born designer brings this same energy to her collaboration with adidas, perfectly marrying her romantic yet daring design ethos with the classic and sporty sneaker model.

A Closer Look at the Designs

This exclusive collection of Sambas introduces five captivating colourways, each drawing inspiration from Caroline Hu’s sophisticated design techniques.

The “Black White” and “Blue” versions transform the iconic sneaker into magical blooms, replacing traditional leather with a striking array of bunched-up lace. Yet the iconic Three Stripes detail remains on the sides, now enhanced with an intricate frill design.

As for the “Pink,” “Black,” and “Off-White” iterations, they showcase flat layers of textured silk, adding a subtle yet luxurious touch to the Samba design. These pairs also feature the iconic Three Stripes branding on the sides, although done in more traditional smooth leather. While these pairs are certainly less theatrical than their lace counterparts, they maintain the distinct romantic spirit of the collection.

Of course, each design includes elegant co-branded detailing on the tongues and will likely be presented in beautifully coordinated shoeboxes.
