Thanks to the release of X-Men ’97 and multiple cameo appearances in “Deadpool and Wolverine”, the Marvel mutants’ popularity has truly soared in 2024. And, while there have been a number of official sneaker releases to commemorate the occasion, including the X-Men x Reebok collection, this Air Jordan 1 “Mystique” custom by Javier Carabias (@javier_carabias) is unquestionably a must-have for any fan of the franchise.

A Closer Look At The Sneaker

What’s most intriguing about this design is how it captures the stunning Mystique’s transformation into different characters. On the left foot, you can see the blue mutant transform from her natural state on the shoe’s lateral side into the formidable Magneto on the medial side. The right foot, on the other hand, sees her transformation into the legendary Wolverine.

While there is much to look at on these stunning sneakers, some of our favourite details include the characters’ faces painted on the heels, the merged name plates on the tongue tags, and the large X-Men logo on the lace dubrae.

Seeing all the elements incorporated into this sneaker makes us want to have our favourite characters painted on an AJ1 as well. We know you’ll appreciate the attention to detail, too.

How To Secure Your Own Custom “X-Men” Design

Once Javier’s commissions reopen, you can request your own custom ‘X-Men’ sneakers showcasing your favourite heroes and/or villains. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, make sure to follow his work on Instagram so you don’t miss out on the next opportunity for him to create you a work of sneaker art.

Until then, feel free to browse our page to find more sneaker designs based on your favourite comic book characters, including a pair of Nike Dunk Lows featuring different characters from the Marvel Universe and chunky boots modelled after the Incredible Hulk’s ginormous feet. And for more unique custom and concept sneakers, don’t forget to follow us here at Sneaker Fortress.
