If it isn’t clear, Nike loves Sony Pictures and Spider-Man. The hero is one of few fictional characters who has seen a few official Nike sneakers in the last couple of years, and it’s easy to see why. Whether it’s Peter Parker or Miles Morales, you can’t help but love Spider-Man. While we wait for the next fantastic sneaker for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, here is our take on an epic pair of Air Jordan 11 x Miles Morales sneakers.
Nike x Spider-Man: A Growing Sneaker Legacy
Nike and the Jordan brand have a loving and standing relationship with Sony Pictures and have made three sneakers inspired by the Spider-Verse. There was a pair for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a beautiful pair for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and an exclusive friends and family pair dedicated to The Prowler, a pair of Nike Air Jordan 1 Stash Utility sneakers.
Considering Beyond the Spider-Verse is already underway, we can’t wait to see what Nike is cooking up for the next movie and how they play to top the excellent pair they made for the last film. While we wait, we decided to take a crack at making a custom concept for our favourite protagonist, Miles Morales.
Miles Morales: The Rise of Brooklyn’s Spider-Man
Similar to Peter Parker, the arguably more well-known Spider-Man, Miles Morales was bitten by a radioactive spider that gave him his powers. Miles is a resident of Brooklyn, New York. After taking up the mantle of Spider-Man, he became the city’s protector.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse not only introduced Miles to the Animated Marvel Universe but also introduced its fans to the Spider-Verse, where the many different versions of Spider-Man, coming in all races, sizes and genders, protect their homes from villains and threats alike. Across the Spider-Verse introduced even more of the Spider-Society, and we can’t wait to see where the story will take us in Beyond the Spider-Verse. One thing is for sure: we are happy that Miles Morales is the trilogy’s protagonist, and we can’t wait to see what his character will do next.
In honour of Miles Morales being one of our favourite Spider-Men, here is our version of an Air Jordan 11 x Miles Morales Sneaker.
Air Jordan 11 x Miles Morales Concept: A Spider-Verse Sneaker Dream
While Miles Morales’ spider suit is usually shades of black with red accents and white eyes, in most renditions, his suit has a deep blue reflective nature, still adding some of that classic red and blue Spidey goodness. Because of that, we decided to design a predominantly blue, black and red colourway for these stunning Air Jordan 11 sneakers to pay homage to Brooklyn’s hero.
Starting from the bottom, we have a deep blue semi-translucent outsole complemented by a steely grey midsole, the two shades working together to create dimension and a grounding aspect for the rest of the sneakers.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Air Jordan 11 without the bottom part of the upper being swathed in patent leather, in a deep blue, almost black shade that perfectly reflects Miles’ black suit’s shiny, almost blue tint. The soft upper section is a soft, plush grey that perfectly matches the rubber midsole’s steely tone perfectly.
The bar-like accents that attach the laces to the sneaker, the laces themselves, and the stitching throughout the upper have been unified in a beautiful true red that matches the spider logo on the toe of the sneakers, clearly defining this pair as one for Miles Morales.
As mentioned, this pair is simply a concept, no matter how much we wish to have these sneakers for ourselves. Here’s to hoping that the next pair from Nike, in honour of Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, is a dark pair inspired by Miles Morales.
