Airwolf Comes Alive In These Nike Air Jordan 11 Sneakers

Ah, the ’80s. Such a magical time for pop culture. This period was rife with TV shows exploring military and action themes. I’m sure names like A-Team, Call to Glory, and Tour of Duty ring a bell. But what about the classic TV show Airwolf? This military drama series took its audience on a thrilling adventure alongside its protagonist, Stringfellow Hawke, becoming somewhat of a staple of 80s television. So, if you loved the iconic Airwolf series, you’ll be thrilled to know that we’ve decided to bring back its 80s nostalgia in the form of a sneaker concept starring the gorgeous Air Jordan 11 silhouette.

First things first, we need to bring those who are unfamiliar with the show up to speed. The four-season series focused on a technologically advanced aircraft (unsurprisingly dubbed Airwolf) designed for the CIA’s covert division known as “the firm”. Unfortunately, the creation is secretly taken by its own inventor, leaving it up to a pilot named Stringfellow Hawke (played by Jan-Michael Vincent) and his crew to recover the government’s stolen treasure. Of course, they eventually do manage to retrieve the impressive aircraft and are tasked with carrying out a string of daring missions for “the Firm” as somewhat of a reward.

However, while we certainly can’t deny that Jan-Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine’s charisma and skill are major contributors to the show’s appeal, the modified Bell 222 aircraft’s sleek and futuristic look is undoubtedly the main attraction.

Krige’s concept sneaker beautifully captures the futuristic essence of the titular aircraft. The design features black patent leather wrapped around the mudguard as a nod to the shiny exterior of the helicopter. The tongue and upper then boast a stunning matte suede finish in the perfect shade of ash grey. This colour here represents the bottom of the aircraft as well as the pilot suits that Hawke and his crew wore.

Other details include bright red decorative stitching, matching “Airwolf” lettering on the lace tabs, and an “Airwolf” tag dangling from the laces. We would like to take a moment to mention that the tag features an image of a high-speed aircraft, making it the perfect accessory to hit the theme home. The final touch on this design is a grey midsole with a matching semi-translucent outsole below.

Although this captivating sneaker concept is exactly that – a concept – be sure to keep your eyes peeled on our site. Who knows, we might have a surprise in store in the future!

Do these Airwolf x Air Jordan 11 sneakers capture the sleek and powerful essence of the original helicopter?
