2024 is a big year for Marvel fans. Not only do we get to see Anthony Mackie pick up the mantle of Captain America in Brave New World, but we also have the highly anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine mashup coming to the big screen via Deadpool 3. To be honest, I’m probably most excited about the latter, so when I came across these Deadpool and Wolverine Dunk Low concepts on social media, I just had to share them! Partly because they combine my two favourite things, Dunk Lows and Marvel characters, but mostly in hopes that someone at Nike will see my plea and team up with @dope_don_designs to have these amazing Deadpool sneakers made to commemorate the release of what is sure to be an epic movie (wishful thinking, I know).
Deadpool 3
The upcoming film will see the highly anticipated crossover between Deadpool and Wolverine. The two first crossed paths in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie, when Deadpool (known then as “Weapon XI) was introduced as a villain. This time around, though, the two unlikely heroes will team up instead of trying to kill each other, and fans of these two beloved Marvel characters can’t wait to see what will ensue. With both characters having a massive fan following, the anticipation for their joint adventure is sure to reach new heights, and releasing a set of sneakers to commemorate their collaboration would most likely be a brilliant move.
Deadpool Sneakers
Back in 2009, the Swoosh label released a Big High Qk “Wolverine” sneaker as part of their Wolverine vs. Sabretooth pack. There was also a Nike Dunk High ‘Deadpool’ released in Grade School sizing just last year (It’s pretty cool too). However, we could definitely do with a new Dunk Low release inspired by @dope_don_designs two incredible Deadpool and Wolverine concept sneakers.
The Deadpool x Nike Dunk Low features a sleek red, black, and brown colour scheme, with the iconic Deadpool logo tastefully displayed on both the lateral and medial sides of the sneaker. Red paint splatter covers the brown midsole, while brown straps (reminiscent of the anti-hero’s utility belt and shoulder straps) wrap around the front of the shoe.
Wolverine Dunks
Meanwhile, the Wolverine x Nike Dunk Low design pays homage to the ferocious mutant’s classic yellow and blue costume, complete with the X-men logo on the heel tab as well as scratches from his retractable claws on the shoe’s tongue. Much like the Deadpool concept, this sneaker features red paint splatter on a crisp white midsole, adding a touch of intensity to the Wolverine-inspired design. It would have been cool if the concept had incorporated some metallic accents to resemble Wolverine’s adamantium claws. Still, the design captures the essence of Logan’s iconic look pretty well and would definitely appeal to fans of the character.
Where can you purchase the Deadpool And Wolverine Nike Dunk sneakers?
Although these sneaker designs are just concepts, there are various ways that they could be brought to life. One possibility is to find a similar base sneaker and customize it yourself. To me, the Deadpool x Nike Dunk Low design gives off major “Cargo Khaki/Mystic Red” vibes. So, I am sure, with a bit of tweaking and some ingenuity, you could create a similar Deadpool look using the “Cargo Khaki/Mystic Red” as a base sneaker.
Another option would be to try out the Nike By You platform, where you can personalize and customize a pair of sneakers using their available design tools and materials. This way, you can create a unique pair of sneakers inspired by Deadpool and Wolverine’s iconic looks for a fraction of the cost of a custom design. Granted, a limited range of colour options are available, but you can still play around with different patterns and graphics to achieve a similar aesthetic.
Alternatively, we can all keep our fingers crossed and hope that Nike or @dope_done_designs will release an official Deadpool and Wolverine collaboration in the future. Until then, there’s always the Nike Dunk High “Deadpool” sneaker to satisfy our superhero cravings. It’s such a pity it only comes in Grade School sizing, though.
